A new study suggests we might be able to wash away coronavirus symptoms using nasal sprays and rinses. Researchers in Maryland and Massachusetts said a simple, at-home nasal irrigation could help lessen the viral load, potentially making symptoms less severe. Experts say the nasal lining serves an important role in the immune system and defends against inhaled viruses and bacteria. The study suggests using over-the-counter hypertonic saline spray, or betadine and other iodine-derivative sprays. 5 Live is KTLA’s digital-only newscast and streams on KTLA.com and the KTLA 5 News app weekdays at 4 p.m. Follow our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/KTLA5Live/ . 5 Live Team: Andy Riesmeyer - Senior Producer & Co-Host https://twitter.com/AndyKTLA Samantha Cortese - Multimedia Journalist & Co-Host https://twitter.com/SamanthaCortese Robert Puente - Co-Host https://www.instagram.com/justrob101/ Julie Montoya - Segment Producer https://www.instagram.com/_julesmontoya/ This segment aired on July 28, 2020.
