In my earlier years, making calzone with my nonna was something I really enjoyed! So I decided to share with you all this special calzone recipe. It consists of a pizza crisp with rosemary, then inside is some bell pepper tomato sauce, Italian sausage, cooked onions and of course some cheese. I hope I made her proud by the way I pronounced the word “Calzone” 😂. • • • #shorts #fyp #foryou #recipes #cooking #baking #diy #pizza #baker #bake #food #foodie _____________________________ ⭐️•Makes 6 Small Calzone•⭐️ • • • 🍕•Pizza Dough•🍕 ➡️ 1 Cup (250mL) Warm Water ➡️ 1/2 Tablespoon Sugar ➡️ 2 1/4 Teaspoons Yeast ➡️ 3 Cups (360g) Flour ➡️ 1 3/4 Teaspoons Dry Rosemary ➡️ 1 1/4 Teaspoons Salt ➡️ 1 1/2 Tablespoons Olive Oil 🍅•Tomato Bell Pepper Sauce•🍅 ➡️ 4 Medium Roma Tomatoes ➡️ 2 Large Bell Peppers (Use Red) ➡️ 1 Small Head Of Garlic ➡️ Salt & Chili Flakes (To Taste) ➡️ Pinch Of Sugar ➡️ 3/4 Teaspoon Dried Basil 🧄•Extra Good Stuff•🧄 ➡️ 1/3 Cup (76g) Garlic Butter, Melted ➡️ 1/4 Cup (25g) Parmesan Cheese ➡️ 6 Italian Sausages, Cooked ➡️ 12 Slices Of Mozzarella Cheese ➡️ 1 Small White Onion, Cooked • • • ⭐️NOTE: you can also use pre-made tomato sauce if you would like. • • • 1️⃣. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Allow to rise in an oiled bowl (covered) for 60-90 minutes. 2️⃣. For the sauce, arrange the vegetables on a tray and season with a sprinkle of salt. Roast at 375 Fahrenheit for 1 hour. Allow to cool then blend until smooth. Cook until thickened, then finish with dried basil, pinch of sugar, chili flakes and salt to taste. Allow to cool. 3️⃣. Punch down the risen dough, then split into 6 equal rounds. On a floured surface, roll into a thin circle then spread some of the sauce, Italian sausage, cooked onions and cheese. Fold it over then seal the edges with a fork. 4️⃣. Transfer to a parchment lined tray and brush with garlic butter and sprinkle parmesan. Bake at 425 Fahrenheit for 16-20 minutes. _________________________ 🍽•Extra Tips & Advice•🍽 ➡️ Don’t be shy with the fillings 😉. ➡️ The parmesan will create a beautiful crust to these calzones! ➡️ For convenience sake, you can use pre-made pizza dough to save time… but nothing beats homemade. ➡️ If you want some extra sauce to dip the calzones in, double the sauce recipe! ___________________________ If you would like to see more of my creations and recipes, check out my Instagram, Facebook and TikTok pages.
