We're going to talk about the ketogenic diet and hair loss. What is the ketogenic diet? Well, most people know what it is, but if you don't, here's a quick recap. A ketogenic diet is a low carb. No high fat diet fats, like cheese, olive oil and fish, because they're high in Omega three fatty acids. So now you know what it is, and you know, a lot of people use it because it helps them lose weight. So what does that have to do with your hair? Well, any diet, any extreme change in your habits can cause hair loss, but here's what you need to look for. If you've chosen to go to Keto route, instead of using the carbs and the sugars for energy, you go into a metabolite, metabolic ketosis. And what it is is your liver produces ketones and those ketones become your energy sources. And that way you burning a lot more fat losing weight. That's why most people do it. Now, here's part of the problem. And what happens is people often aren't getting all the nutrients they need, particularly the B vitamins for the hair by a tin lead for the hair. Ketosis can result in vitamin deficiencies. Those vitamin deficiencies accompanied with the changes in the body caused by any diet, including Keto. Can affect your hormone levels. Yes, it can cause your hormone levels to change when your hormone levels changes up down. It's also going to affect the way your body processes, nutrients, but hormones are critical with hair. For example, DHT dihydroxy testosterone causes hair loss and thinning hair. So you have to really watch how your body's responding and if you're losing too much hair. What happens is in any diet, you know, you reduce calories. Okay. When you're just calories again, your body's going to take for the vital functions, what it needs first, leaving a little for your hair. So that's a lot of it, a little bit of information about the keto diet in hair. But really you are your best advocate for your hair. Your body is going to tell you what it needs.
